6 years ago we first visited one of the DEUS temples in Canggu Indonesia ‘A playground for lovers of the freedom machine’. We were instant fans of this edgy brand and the experiences they created.
Years later, in the early days of ROF-Style, we talked about how cool it would be if our ROF’s are sold in their stores one day. This dream came true a year ago when after DEUS Houtbay (South Africa) also DEUS flagship store in Amsterdam started stocking our vegetable tanned leather Tankwa Boots. Hanna (DEUS Amsterdam) had been an entrepreneur in South Africa and, like us, has an immense love for the country, adventure and travel. Naturally, when you put two adventure enthusiasts together, fun things immerse…
What started out as an idea to go camping and bring a little bit of Africa to the Lowlands, became a 2 day reverie of unique vehicles, music and food. All fuelled by interesting people with the burning desire for adventure.
Our first ROF X Deus ex Machina event
With the raindrops (hello Dutch summer) still sitting on the lawns of Landgoed Energy up we started our set-up. When visiting this majestic location in May, we immediately knew it was the perfect backdrop for our ROF-Style x DEUS event.
When midday came, our campsite started filling up. On the invite we asked people to bring their most unique 2 or 4-wheeled vehicle, which made for a fun and eclectic Nomadic camp.
A casual setting to connect lovers of life
With no set program, things seemed to flow naturally… with people naturally mingling over their passion for oldtimers, Africa and the outdoors. When the rain stopped and the sun slowly set, an energetic party pursued into the early hours of the morning sharing stories, laughs and funky cocktails (made by Clusius Vodka)
Small links to Africa made this event complete, such as the spectacular Dutch biltong made by Kyle from Runder Biltong who wrote a blog about his experience at our event as well.
Sunday morning riding adventure
After yet another glorious fire cooked breakfast by Deus Cantina the morning after, we gathered for a ride out towards our ROF-Style showroom. I never considered myself as a ride out lover, but the sounds and sight of all those vehicles riding in one big convey. It was so magical!
And the DEUS crew racing past on their bikes, some with our ROF boots, it was such a cool and energetic vibe. We crossed the Veluwe and ended at our ROF showroom in the middle of the forest.
A weekend for the books that leaves us with a feeling that’s hard to describe and easier felt by the heart. Thanks to those who were part of it we are still flying on high vibrations.
