”Giving a handmade piece of
South Africa to the world”
”Giving a handmade piece of
South Africa to the world”’
THE CONCEPT
In a world of mass-production and overconsumption, it’s ROF’s mission to make people aware of the added value of handmade items in terms of sustainability and empowerment of local craftsmen
ROF wants to be of added value in the country where their founders live by supporting the lives of the local community in a sustainable manner. Not only by providing them with jobs, but also by giving them the opportunity to learn a craft and become independent.
Handmade
Sustainable
Local

Handmade
Every pair of ROF boots is 100% handmade by local craftsmen. People that work passionated and dedicated to shape every detail of your boot to perfection. None of the boots are exactly alike: variations in color, shading, texture and shape are inherent to handmade leather boots. This means that every pair of ROF boots is unique and one-of-a-kind.

Sustainable
Our founders have high standards when it comes to sustainable quality. Only the best materials with limited impact on our planet are used. The leather is tanned using an eco-friendly technique, where just organic materials and natural tannins derived from trees and plants are used. This natural way of tanning allows the leather to keep most of its original features that age well over time.

Local
ROF’s founders love South Africa and its local community. Therefore most of the used materials are locally sourced and the craftsmen are consciously selected. The boots are crafted from the typical South-African nguni cow breed, the type of leather which local Zulu people used back in the days to make armored battle shields and traditional skirts.
